27 March 2013

Cairo, Egypt, March 26, 2013- Host Egypt secured a World Championship vacancy after they set their second victory against Rwanda 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-17) in the second day of the 2013  Girls Youth (U 18) African Nations championship here at the Army club Hall in Cairo, Egypt on Monday.

The victory improved the Egyptian win- loss ratio to 2-0 so they are now sure to qualify to the prestigious event even if they lose their third and last match in the competition against Algeria on Wednesday.

Tunisia recovered from first day defeat against Egypt to flow past Algeria 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 14-25, 25-14) in 85 minutes. Tunisia improved to 1-1, while Algeria dropped to the same ratio.

The third and last day on Wednesday will feature a crucial clash between Egypt and Algeria where the latter had to win to secure one of the three tickets for Africa in the World Championship to be held in Thailand next summer. Tunisia meets Rwanda in a thrilling battle to determine also another ticket to the FIVB event.
