Egypt to meet their neighbours Tunisia in the opening

Cairo, Egypt, March 24, 2013- Egypt meets Tunisia in a strong North African Clash between in the opening day of the 2013 Girls Youth African Nations Championship due to start at the Egyptian Army Hall in Cairo, Egypt on Monday.

 

 Algeria meets Rwanda also on the competition opener.

 

 The drawing of lots was held in Baron Hotel in Cairo in presence of CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani, CC President and CAVB Vice President Idriss Dokony, Referee Delegate Abdelmajeed Djirad, SOC Delegate Jappo Mango, Egyptian Volleyball Federation President Ali El Sergani, Local Organizing Committee President Abdel Hamid Elwassimy and CAVB Technical Director Howyda Mondy.

 

 The competition which acts as a qualifier for the FIVB World Championship of this age category features the participation of 4 teams; host and defending champions Egypt, last competition runner up Algeria, Tunisia and dark horses of African volleyball Rwanda.

 

 The top 3 teams will qualify to the World Championship to be held in Thailand this summer.

 

 The Girls Youth African Nations Championship getting underway is the fourth and last of the four age group competitions this year qualifying to the FIVB World Championships.

 

 "My main target here is to qualify to the World Championship," Rwanda Coach Paul Bitok said after the drawing of lots.

 

 "We want to continue our golden era after our Men U 21 and Boys U 19 teams secured theie tickets to the FIVB prestigious competitions early this year. this will push the government to give us more support."
