Carthage and Ahly to vie for Women African championship's title

2018 Women's African Club Championship- Semifinal 

 

 

 Cairo, Egypt, March 13, 2018- Defending champions, Carthage of Tunisia and host Ahly of Egypt will battle for the honour of the 2018 African women’s club championship on Thursday in what is expected to be an epic finale, after both teams won their corresponding semifinal contest.

 

Defending champions, Carthage of Tunisia beat Prisons of Kenya 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-23, 25-21) in the first semifinal.

 

Ahly launched a passionate comeback to record a nail biting 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-8) victory against Kenya’s Prisons.

 

In the play off 5 to 8 places, Bafia recovered from their quarterfinals defeat to beat Nigeria’s customs 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22). Rwanda Revenue Authority enforced a 3-0 (31-29, 25-23, 29-27) victory against Shams. Revenue will Bafia for position 5-6 whiles Shams face Customs for position 7-8.

 

 In play off 9 to 12, Nkumba beat their fellow Ugandans Vision 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25 -10), while INJS recorded another victory as they beat Chlef 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-14) in dominant fashion. Winners will play for position 9-10 and losers for 11 and 12. 

 

In 13 to 16 play offs Harare city of Zimbabwe were a 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-22) winners against Asec Mimosas from Core d'Ivoire. Nyong overcame FAP 3-1 (28-26, 25-14, 23-25, 25-21) in all Cameroonian derby. DGSP of Congo beats Burkina Faso’s Douanes 3-1 (18-25, 28-26, 25-14, 25 -20) to finish on 17 position whiles Douanes are ranked 18.
