Quatre Bornes, Mauritius, October 7, 2014 - Mauritius hosted Zone 7 clinic for the African Dream Project at Gold Crest Hotel in Quatre Bornes, Mauritius on 28 and 29 September 2014.
The clinic was attended by representatives of Mauritius, Seychelles and Madagascar National federations including the presidents of Mauritius and Seychelles NFs. The clinic was led by FIVB Instructor Coaching - Mr Bernard Denis from Seychelles.
The presence of high ranking officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education, The Mauritius National Olympic Committee and the Mauritius Sports Council clearly demonstrates the commitment to lead successfully this development programme. In addition to the setting up per NF, the participants will recommend to CAVB that there is a" Zone 7 Youth Exchange" between the centres of any two countries at a time; whereby this will enhance not only the sports development of the child but also the general knowledge and the social aspect of the youth.
The project which is supported by FIVB President Dr Ary Graca is considered one of the most important Development plans in Africa in the last few years.
The Programme aims at having a common project for all African countries, mainly focusing on volleyball at school. All relevant stakeholders must be involved which are Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sport, Ministry of Youth, and National Olympic Committee. The project will see the setting up of centers that will be used to develop identified athletes at young age and arranging all the keys for their involvement later on to their corresponding Youth national teams.
