CAVB Beach Volleyball Continental Cup
Algeria, October 30, 2011- The host team Algeria and Mozambique qualified to the final of the CAVB Continental Cup Women Pool 3 in the second round of the zonal phase held in Algeria on Saturday following their victory over Sierra Leone and Uganda respectively.
Algeria and Mozambique consequently secured their berth to the final round of the Olympic Qualifying competition to be held in June 2012.
The Algerian team pulled off an easy victory over Sierra Leone in 4 straight matches 4-0. the Algerian pairing of Meriem Boucheta / Sonia Berkioune started the program through a straight victory over Sierra Leone double of Hawa Kargbo /Francess Lansan 2/0 (21-07, 21-06). The first victory paved the way to three other victories all in the same results 2-0.
Mozambique defeated Uganda also in 4 straight matches but after a big fight from the losers. Mozambique double of Amelia Cumbi / Rezia Cumbi secured the first and most difficult victory over the Ugandan pair of Andrina Namata / Mercy Ikomolot 2-1 (21-13,11-21, 22-20). Mozambique continued afterwards to win the other three matches.
Algeria play Mozambique for the gold medal while Sierra Leone meet Uganda for the bronze medal.
