Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia compete for gold

Alger, Algeria, September 7, 2014- Three African team will start the battle for the gold medal at the finals of 2014 Girls' U18 African Nations Championship to start in Alger, Algeria on Sunday.

 

 The three teams will play a round robin tournament where the winners get the gold medals.

 

 The programmme starts with a well known African derby between neighbours Algeria and Tunisia on Sunday, followed by another derby between the last competition finalists Egypt and Tunisia on Monday before the final match when Egypt face Algeria on Tuesday.

 

The competition acts as a qualifier for the 2015 FIVB Girls U18 World Championship. Players who are Eligible to participate in this competition are those who were born on 1st of January 1998 or after.

 

 Egypt is the defending champions of this competition as they won the last edition in 2013 in Cairo defeating Tunisia in straight sets in the final.
