Entebbe, Uganda, - Uganda’s FIVB funded project known as Youth 1000 had held a one-day clinic at the African Children’s Choir School in Entebbe on October 15 with over 120 children taking part.
Project head Tonny Lakony brought together five coaches including Nason Bwesigye, Edgar Karungi, Deogratius Nsereko, Ignatius Okurut and Sadat Waguma who led participants in theory and practical sessions.
Headmaster Mark Williams said he was very impressed with the support the Uganda Volleyball Federation has extended to the youngsters especially as they are the future of the game. African Children’s Choir School has also formally requested the Uganda Volleyball Federation to include the ACC Open, which starts next season, on the UVF calendar. The tournament will see clubs and universities compete for top spot.
The Uganda Volleyball Federation will officially launch the project on November 11 in Nkokonjeru district in the eastern region of the country.
