2014 CAVB U21 Beach Cup
Maputo, Mozambique, May 19, 2014- Egypt Men's U21 Beach Volleyball team won the gold medal of the 2014 CAVB U21 Beach Cup following their thrilling victory over hosts Mozambique in the competition held at Costa do Sol Beach in Maputo, Mozambique this weekend.
The competition featured three teams who played a round robin tournament with Egypt meeting hosts Mozambique in the final match.
The first Service of the competition was served by the Minister of Sport Mr Fernando Sunbana Jr and observed by Mr Khalid Cassam Mozambique Volleyball Federation President.
Mozambique v Zimbabwe 2-0 (21-12, 21-15)
Mozambique start back 0-3 on the first set but quickly recovery based on the good services and attack of the players winning the set by 21-12 and the second set by 21-15.
Zimbabwe v Egypt 0-2 (17-21, 14-21)
Once again the Zimbabwean team lost by 2-0 where Egypt used their experience and power to overcome their opponent.
Egypt v Mozambique 2-1 (21-23, 21-16, 15-7)
This was the game of the day. Egypt started very strong advancing 8-2 . Mozambique team continued making many errors so the score went to 10-3. Egypt continues playing strong and manages to get 18-12, when the Mozambican starts recovering, taking 6 consecutive point equalizing the score at 18-18. Egypt won 2 point making 20/18 and then Mozambique took 3 point leading for the first time the match wing at the end by 21/23.
The second set started with Mozambique leading, managing to reach the score of 8-13. Thinking that the match was wined the Mozambican team, based on the lack of experience, relaxed and start making lot of errors that contribute to lose the set by 21/16.
On the third set, Mozambique team start nervous and did not manage to fight and did on the first two set, losing it by 15-7.
