Favourite teams start victorious at Women's African club championship

2014 Women's African Club Championship- Day 1

 Carthage, Tunisia, April 19, 2014- Defending Champions Kenya Prisons, Hosts Carthage and heavy favourites Kenya Pipeline and Algeria's GS Petroliers started as victorious on the opening day of the 2014 Women's African Club Championship held in Carthage, Tunisia on Saturday.

 

In Pool A host Carthage (TUN) beat Water Sports (ETH) 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-16), while Injis (CMR) hammered Nkumba University (UGA) 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-15).

 

 Pool B featured tough victory for the defending champions Kenya Prisons over Bafia (CMR) 3-1 (20-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-11) as Shams (EGY) took over Bejaia (ALG) 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-16).

 

 GSP (ALG) fought for almost 2 hours to pull off an epic 3-2 (25-12, 25-27, 25-11, 22-25, 15-13) win over Sfax (TUN) in Pool C, while Ndeje University (UGA) flew past Manga Sport (Gabon) 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-16)

 

Pool D showed Kenya Pipeline playing their best to defeat APR (RWA) 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-17) as FAP (CMR) crashed Chlef (ALG) 3-1 (16-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-17).
