Burkina Faso President between FIVB President Wei and CAVB President Elwani

Ouagadougou, Burkina, October 24, 2011- In a great push for volleyball in Africa, The Burkina Faso President of the Republic Compaore Blaise met the FIVB President Jizhong Wei and his wife as well as the CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani and the representatives of 11 African National Federations
In his speech the FIVB President pointed out he feels pleasure to be in Burkina Faso in the African soil to meet the President of the Republic Compaore Balise to recognize the high profile support of his Excellency to volleyball not only in the country, but also in the whole West African region.
“I wish to thank you for the reception and the warm hospitality with the delegations accompanying me when we arrived to this beautiful country,” Said Wei in his speech to the President Blaise.
“The International Volleyball Federation decided to decorate you with the gold medal of the FIVB to you for the great assistance you offered to Zone 3 countries through the General Gilbert Diendere. In the last few years you assisted the zonal financially and also with a lot of equipments making it possible to effectively organize the competitions.”
Wei appreciated the efforts of the main sponsor Diendere who is regularly following the activities of the zone which has become one of the active zones in the continent. “We want also to honour him because of the limitless efforts and support he offered since he was nominated as the main sponsor of the zone.” He concluded.
CAVB President thanked the president Blaise for finalizing the work in the new indoor Hall which is now compatible to host FIVB competitions. “You give volleyball a real support and thus we congratulate you for this hard work,” Said Elwani. He proposed to organize an annual competition in Ouagadougou under his name to attract a lot of teams not only from Zone 3 but also from all over the continent.
Burkina Faso president Compaore Blaise greeted all the African guests and promised to continue his support of volleyball which was his favourite sport specially because he practiced it as a player. He welcomed the guests led by the highest head of the sport Mr Wei who becomes a leader of development with his continuous work in the African counties. He appreciated also the hard work of Dr Elwani who came almost every year to Burkina to give a new boost to the sport.
