Sierra Leone National Federation Announces its Inter-Regional Championships

Sierra Leone, February 18, 2014- Sierra Leone Volleyball Federation announced their volleyball Plan in 2014 including the Inter-Regional Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Championships in Koidu, February 20 to 24, 2014 which will help development of the sport in the West African Country.    


 The programme, chaired by the Vice President and Chairman of the Western Region Volleyball Association, Mr. Moses Koroma, concluded with the distribution of technical support to the Regions for the event. 


 Welcoming journalists at the noon Press Conference the president of the NF President Mr. Christopher John welcomed the media attending the announcement and highlighted the significance of last year’s performance and its implications for the growth of volleyball.  He emphasized the need for further collaboration with the press in highlighting the activities of the NF so as to raise awareness of the sport and sponsors from corporate institutions.


The General Secretary and FIVB Beach Volleyball Commission Member, Mr. Ahmed Khanou, showed some of the NF’s achievements in the 2013 with its challenges and the consequences of those achievements. He featured the great success of participation at the CAVB Beach cup of all age groups U19, U21 and U23.


 Sierra Leone is considered one of the best performing NFs in Africa in the last few years as they were engaged in most of volleyball and beach VB activities from 2011.
