Rwanda upset Cameroon at World Championship qualifier

2014 FIVB World Championship- Day 2 African qualifier Men's Pool T

 

 

 Yaoundé, Cameroon, February 14, 2014- Dark horses Rwanda surprised host Cameroon 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 25-17)  in the second day of African qualifying tournament Pool T for the 2014 Men's World championship held at Palais des Sports in Yaoundé, Cameroon on Friday.

 

 This was the first victory for Rwanda after they lost against Algeria in straight sets in the opening to improve to 1-1. Cameroon who won their first match against Nigeria became also 1-1.

 

 Nigeria flew past Gabon 3-1 (22-25, 25-20, 25-11, 25-16) in the day's first match to improve to 1-1, while the losers started their matches with 0-1.

 

The winner of the five nation round robin tournament will secure a ticket at World Championship to be held in Poland in August 30 to September 21.
