Congo RDC Team blocking against South Africa

Lomé, Togo, October 16, 2011- South Africa and Egypt men Beach volleyball teams advanced to the final of the second round Pool 3 of the CAVB Continental Cup Zonal phase held at the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in Lomé, Togo on Saturday. Both teams secured their tickets to the finals of the CAVB Continental cup to be held in June 2012.
In the women tournament South Africa and Kenya advanced also to the final from Pool 1 to secure their berths at the finals.
The semifinals were attended by a lot of spectators who came to the Atlantic Shores to support the host teams in their semifinal matches in the competition second day.
In the Men’s event the Togo pairing of Gadji / Antao took their Egyptian rivals to a soaring marathon of 75 minutes first match which ended in favor of Togo with a win of the first match 2-1 (26-24,18-21,15-8). Egypt’s team then rebounded to win the remaining three matches to advance to the Finals. Although they lost the chance to qualify to the finals of the Continental Cup, Togo men teams extracted the respect of the heavy spectators crowd in the field.
In the second semi-final, the top seeded South African took over Congo RDC, in 4 straight matches to advance to the finals.
Now South Africa and Egypt secured their places in the Final Phase of the Continental Cup which will take place in June 2012, the winner of which will become represent Africa in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
In the Women’s tournament, Kenya and South Africa qualified to the finals and also secured their spots for the CCUP Finals in June 2012 following their win against Gabon and Togo to qualify also to the finals of the Continental Cup.
