African referees pass evaluation at Agadir Open

13 October 2011

Agadir, Morocco, October 12, 2011 - Nine African referees passed their CAVB referee refresher clinic evaluations at the Agadir Open on the FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour last week as the continent continues to improve the level of knowledge across the region.

Following extensive training throughout 2010 and 2011, the coaches were given a final test at the event in Morocco from October 4 to 9.

It is yet another positive outcome for the strategic plan outlined by the CAVB Referee Commission, headed by Mr Hasan Ahmed and the new referees now await final approval from the FIVB Refereeing Commission, due to convene in January 2012.

CEV referees Drago Peslac and Anton Pevc helped put together the evaluation system alongside CAVB officials, continuing the partnership between the two confederations. The new system allowed CAVB to organise its first IRRC earlier this year helping increase the number of officials who can now attend events such as the Beach Volleyball Continental Cup, which continues across the continent.
