Durban, South Africa, December 7, 2013- Durban’s pristine ‘blue flag’ status beach, the venue for the FIVB City of Durban Open scheduled to take place in South Africa’s ‘surf city’ from 11-15 December has been transformed into a spectacular beach volleyball arena. Promoter, Sunil Geness’s construction team has been working around the clock to get the exquisitely constructed VIP centre and stands ready a week ahead of the start of the global beach volleyball championship.
According to Promoter Geness the beach volleyball courts are hugged by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean on the eastern side while world class hotels and restaurants form the border on the western side. Geness went on to say that during the festive period the hotels will be filled to capacity and the guests will be making their way to the stands to witness scintillating FIVB beach volleyball action by the best players in the world.
“All year round locals and visitors rub shoulders while they walk along the promenades that are lined with African craft markets and small business enterprises,” added Sunil Geness who heads a Johannesburg based black empowerment business empire.
Curious observers often pluck up the courage and descend upon the restricted area around the construction site to take a peek at the ‘huge construction’ that has resembles an alien space ship on Durban’s New Beach. Nods of approval from the curious onlookers prompt a thumbs-up’ sign from the construction workers.
“I am very happy with the progress made on the beach,’ said Promoter Sunil Geness.
“ In addition to getting the print and electronic media on board for the FIVB extravaganza our well co-ordinated media blitz has targeted schools, colleges, universities, business, government , sports dealerships, shopping malls, taxi ranks and social media to create an awareness for the final leg of the FIVB Open for the 2013 season.
“We are bracing ourselves for a huge turn out of spectators,” added Sunil Geness
