Cairo, Egypt, October 7, 2013- African Volleyball Confederation "CAVB" Beach Volleyball Commission will meet in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday to study the 2014 Beach Volleyball activity.
Among other items in the agenda of the meeting, the second edition of the CAVB Continental Cup which will be the qualification process for the 2016 Olympic Games, comes as the main activity after the great success of the first edition in Africa with the participation of 40 countries.
The Continental Cup will feature four phases during the period 2014 to 2016 starting with the sub zonal phase which will show all the affiliated national federations. 24 countries will then qualify to the zonal phase where the top 12 teams will qualify to the semifinal, which in turn qualify 8 teams per gender to the finals. The winner of the Continental Cup will secure a ticket to the 2016 Olympic Games.
The commission will propose the 2014 African Qualifications for the FIVB age category Championships U19, U21 and U23 and the qualifications for the Youth Olympic Games.
The meeting will also propose the updated system of the Continental Beach Volleyball Ranking and the development courses for referees and coaches.
