Second round dates and organizers confirmed

 

 Cairo, Egypt, September 25, 2013- African Volleyball Confederation "CAVB" announced the full programme for the zonal phase (Second Round) of the 2014 FIVB World Championship African qualification tournament to be held during October and November 2013.

 

 The zonal phase of the African qualifiers features 26 men and 25 women countries divided into 7 continental zones, where the champions of zones 1 and 7 along with the champions and runner up of zones 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 will automatically qualify to the third round (final phase) of the qualifications making over 12 teams in each gender.

 

 The qualified teams from the second round will be accompanied by the top 3 ranked countries in the FIVB World ranking in the Men's category and by the top 2 in the Women's gender where the they will be re- divided into three men and two women pools where the winner of each final pool book a ticket to the finals of the World Championship as African has three ticket for the men and two for the women genders.

 

 Mauritius will start the schedule when they host both men and women qualifiers October 4 to 7, 2013, where the organizers with Seychelles will battle it out for one vacancy in the final phase.

 

 Zone 1 qualifiers will be held in Tunisia for men where they face Algeria and Morocco for two vacancies to the final round in the qualification tournament to be held in Tunisia 8 to 12 November. In women gender Algeria and Tunisia already secured their qualifications tickets.

 

 In Zone 2 Cape Verde and Senegal already secured the two tickets of the men qualifiers, while Senegal, Cape Verde, Guinea Conakry and Gambia will fight in Cape Verde for two slots at the qualifiers hosted by Cape Verde November 7 to 11.

 

 Zone 3 Men's tournament will be hosted by Niger October 23-27 where they play Ghana, Nigeria and Burkina Faso for the two tickets. The women qualification tournament will feature Ghana, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire and Togo.

 

 Zone 4 men's qualifier in Congo Brazzaville November 6 to 10 includes the organizer as well as Chad, Gabon and Cameroon competition for the two slots. Cameroon, RD Congo and Congo Brazzaville will be the candidates for the women's in RD Congo November 1 to 5.

 

 Rwanda host Zone 5 Men's tournament November 25 to December 1 where they fight against giants Egypt, Burundi, Kenya and Uganda. The latter will host the women tour October 16 to 20 with Kenya, Egypt, Uganda and Tanzania fighting for two places in the finals.

 

 Botswana will organize Zone 6 thrilling Men's qualification October 7 to 13, where they line up against Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and Namibia for two slots in the finals. Zambia will be the site for the women's qualifier where they host Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Mozambique and Namibia October 21 to 27.
