Nairobi, Kenya, September 14, 2013- African volleyball confederation "CAVB" president Dr Amr Elwani opened Zone 5 board meeting which started in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday aside of the 2013 Women's African Nations championship due to start at Kasarani Moi International Sports Center.
Elwani started the meeting asking all the members to study the future plans for the zone to develop the 12 National Federations affiliated to the zone.
"We are now in the meeting of the biggest African Zone," CAVB President said. "We need discipline and unity to achieve our goals. We succeeded to increase the budget of the zones to almost three folds in the last few years. I need to receive all the suggestions of the members to fulfill our projects.
He also showed the major activities of the different continental zones and new project of CAVB to establish zonal qualifications for the major African competitions to decrease the financial cost for the participating countries through organizing those competitions in the nearby geographical regions.
CAVB first vice president Mory Keita commented that CAVB is a big house with 7 pillars, referring to the 7 zones of the continent and if those pillars are affected CAVB may collapse. He enhanced the members to work hard in the developmental projects to improve their volleyball standard.
