Pool D - Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire proceed to the zonal phase

2014 FIVB World Championship Qualifier

 Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, July 20- Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire women volleyball National teams secured their tickets to the zonal phase of the 2014 World Championship African qualifier after they finished Women Pool D qualification tournament at the first and second places respectively after the third and final day held at Palais des Sports Hall in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on Saturday.

 

The third day featured a straight sets win for Cote d'Ivoire over Burkina Faso (25-19, 25-18, 25-14) in 71 minutes. The winners improved their win- loss ratio to 1-1 to finish the three nation round robin tournament at the second position after Ghana team who finished their matches on Friday with 2-0 record.

 

 Burkina Faso was ranked third with 0-2 record

 

 The African World Championship Qualifier passes through three stages, the Sub Zonal this month to qualify 30 teams to the second round which is the Zonal phase to be held in October and November 2013.

 

The top 12 teams from the zonal phase joined by the top two ranked teams in the FIVB ranking will play in two pools of the final phase in January and February 2014, where the leader of each pool will qualify directly to the 2014 Women's World Championship in Italy.
