2014 FIVB World Championship Qualifier
Ten men and three women teams confirm second round tickets
Cairo, Egypt, July 9, 2013- Ten African Men and three women teams secured their tickets this weekend to the zonal phase of the African Qualifier for the 2014 FIVB World Championship following the end of three men and one women Sub Zonal tournaments hosted by Cape Verde, Mozambique and Chad.
In men qualifiers, Cape Verde, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Cameroon Congo Brazzaville, Chad, Gabon, Botswana, Mozambique and Lesotho made their way to the second round (Zonal Phase) to be held next October and November 2013.
Women qualifiers showed Botswana, Swaziland and Mozambique proceeding to the Zonal Phase.
Cape Verde hosted Pool B Men's tournament which showed the organizers securing the first ever volleyball gold after beating the experienced Senegal team and Sierra Leone, where the three teams made it to the second round.
Mozambique organised successfully Men's Pool J where the top three teams including the organizer accompanied with the winners Botswana and the surprising Lesotho.
Chad afterwards had first time indoor volleyball organization and qualified also to the zonal phase joined by winners Cameroon, Congo Brazzaville and Gabon.
Botswana, Swaziland and Mozambique made their way to the second round through Pool J women qualifications hosted by the latter.
