Cairo, Egypt, May 24, 2013 – African Volleyball Confederation "CAVB" Board of Administration meeting under the presidency of Dr. Amr Elwani came to a close at Egyptian Olympic Committee in Cairo, Egypt on Friday with President Elwani thanking the members for their valuable work and forward thinking.
"Every member here in the board has a very valuable opinion which helps in our general plan and can bring more to our sport." Said Dr. Amr Elwani.
Key decisions saw the approval of the 2014 World Championship Qualifications format which shows a record of 43 men teams and 39 women teams. The new format passes through three stages before it determines the qualifiers for the three spots in the men's category and two for the women's. The competition will start in June with the sub zonal stage, followed by the zonal stage between the top three teams of each pool in the sub zonal. Finally the winners of the zonal pool qualify to the final phase where the top three men team qualify for the World Championship in Poland and the top two women teams go to Italy 2014.
CAVB Board approved the courses calendar 2013 which aims to continue development in refereeing, coaching and Management Presented by CAVB Executive Director Howyda Mondy.
Other major decisions included the approval of the CAVB Financial Report presented by CAVB Treasurer Habu Gumel and included a review of the 2012 budget and approval of the 2013 budget.
Commission presentations were also part of the agenda where Refereeing Commission President Hassan Ahmed showed the great improvement in the number of referees. Other reports for the Sports Organising Committee "SOC", Technical, Medical, Development and Beach Commissions were also approved.
Zone Presidents presented their activity this year including all the competition organised at the club and National team levels.
