Cairo, Egypt, May23, 2013 – African Volleyball Confederation "CAVB" Board of Administration meeting under the presidency of Dr. Amr Elwani officially opened at the Egyptian Olympic Committee Hall on Thursday with a condensed programme of activities. Development Programme and World Championship Qualifications came as main items in the Agenda beside the reports of the organized African competition throughout the last year. The two-day meeting will see also the Board focus on the proposals of the CAVB Commissions, held in 2012, while also evaluating key ways to continue the volleyball and Beach volleyball development.Dr Elwani opened the meeting by emphasising the important role each of the Board members have. He appreciated the role of each member supervising certain function in CAVB activity. He concluded the Activity Report through a detailed presentation where he described how Africa doubled activity in both volleyball and beach volleyball this year. Elwani also declared the new format for African qualifications to the 2014 FIVB World Championships which secures fair competition between all the affiliated NFs to determine the qualifiers to the biggest scene of volleyball.“Your presence is very important, the role of everyone is clear. We are exchanging the ideas to bring up the best for our sport," Elwani said.“There is a lot of work to do so we must give opportunities to everyone to express his ideas. Like that we will reach our goals.” CAVB Executive Director Howyda Mondy presented the proposal of CAVB courses and showed the courses organised by CAVB in coaching, refereeing and management. She also presented the organized CAVB Volleyball competitions in 2012 and early months of 2013. CAVB Beach Director May Alaa presented Beach volleyball activity and pointed out that the main goals to implement the sport in African have been achieved to pave the way for 41 countries to participate in the competitions since 2010. She also presented the big progress happening during the 2013 CAVB Beach Cup at all the age categories U19, U21 and U23.
