Young players' development course concludes in Cote d'Ivoire

17 April 2013

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 16, 2013 – An FIVB VCP Young Players Course was held in Abidjan from April 10 to 14 as part of the Ivorian Volleyball Federation’s development plans.

Eighteen girls and five boys aged between 13 and 19 participated in the course.

They were given instruction in volleyball’s theory and practice, training, tactics and the history of the sport. The five-day course ended with demonstration matches and a closing ceremony.

The Ivorian Volleyball Federation is aiming to increase the number of youngsters playing volleyball, especially girls and young women. The Federation is planning to create a girls under-16 team in 2016.

In addition, they are broadening the base of volleyball players in different regions by creating youth training centers around the country and increasing the number of clubs.

They are also trying to accelerate the training of teachers and coaches with the help of FIVB programs and the CAVB.
