Mombasa to host CAVB U 23 Beach Volleyball Cup

Nairobi, Kenya, April 16, 2013- Beach volleyball action returns to the picturesque coast of Mombasa with Jacaranda Indian Beach Resort hosting CAVB under-23 Beach volleyball Cup on April 18-22.


 The competition acts as a qualifier for three teams from zones 4, 5, 6 and 7 to the FIVB World Championship of this age category to be held in Myslowice, Poland June 6-9, 2013.


 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Secretary General Evans Wasike said six countries excluding Kenya have confirmed double gender participation while another five countries will enter single gender teams.


Countries that have registered for the event include Egypt, Sudan, Gabon, Chad, Namibia and Zimbabwe who will all enter double gender sides.


Countries that are sending single gender teams are Rwanda, Uganda, Swaziland, Burundi, Congo Brazzaville and Gabon.


Wasike confirmed that international technical officials and teams started arriving in the country on Monday ready to oversee the tournament.


He confirmed that Naomi Too and Gaudencia Makokha form Kenya national women’s team while Maxwell Ekunoit and Nicholas Lagat play in men’s category.
