15 clubs compete for a World Championship berth - Drawing of Lots

Antananarivo, Mozambique, April 3, 2013- The Drawing of lots for the 2013 Women's African Club Championship took place on Wednesday in Madagascar capital of Antananarivo where the 15 participating teams were divided into 4 pools in the preliminary round.

 

Host team Stef Auto from Madagascar were drawn in Pool A along with APR (Rwanda) and Bejaia (Algeria).  

 

Defending champions and 4 times African heroes Prisons will line up alongside Water Sport (Ethiopia), GS Petrolier (Algeria) and Kutlwano (Botswana).

 

 Meanwhile the record holders Pipeline (7 cups) faces Manga Sport (Gabon), Les AS (Burundi) and Ndejje University (Uganda) in Pool C. Five time African Champions Al Ahly (Egypt) take on AS Tanda (Cote d'Ivoire),  FAP (Cameroon) and VB Diamand (Madagascar).

 

 Each pool will play a round robin format wher the top two teams qualify automatically to the quarterfinal of 1 to 8 places, while the teams placed third and fourth will compete for 9 to 16 positions.

 

 The drawing of Lots was attended by CAVB Vice President Mounir Ben Slimane, Local Organizing Committee President Clarisse Bakoly, SOC Delegate Camilo Antao, Referee Delegate Emmanuel Ngoloko and CAVB Executive Director Howyda Mondy.
