Egypt imposed their dominance on African age group volleyball Championships

 Cairo, Egypt, March 28, 2013- After the victory of the Egyptian volleyball team U 18 at the 2013 Girls Youth African Nations Championship concluded on Wednesday in Cairo, the North African country imposed their dominance during the four age group competitions capturing three out of four trophies.


 Egypt won before both Boys' Youth African Nations Championship U19 in Algeria and Women's Junior U20 competition in Nigeria, while their compatriots Tunisia claimed the fourth competition which was the Men's Junior U21 tournament in their homelands.


 The Egyptian girls were the last to be crowned on Wednesday after they won the round robin competition that featured also Tunisia who came second, Algeria (3rd) and Rwanda (4th) as they won their three matches in straight sets to win the title without dropping a set.


 Beside the trophy, Egypt gained three out of the seven Individual Awards having the Most valuable Player (MVP) won by Aya Khalid, the best attacker (Sarah Hanafy) and the best blocker (Heidi Kandel).


 By the end of the four age group championships, all the 14 African vacancies at the FIVB World Championships were determined as Egypt, Tunisia, Rwanda and Algeria qualified for the Boys Youth champions. Tunisia, Egypt, Rwanda and Morocco gained the Men's Junior champs. Egypt, Algeria and Nigeria claimed the Women's Junior berths and finally Egypt, Tunisia and clinched the Girls Youth slots.
