Tangier, Morocco, September 23, 2011- in the framework of the the African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” development plan, a referee clinic attended by 42 referees was organized ahead of the 2011 Men’s African Nations Championship due to start at the newly established Hall in Tangier, Morocco on Friday.
The clinic was conducted by the FIVB instructor and the Secretary of the FIVB Referee Commission, Hassan Ahmed and it was attended by the nominated international referees for the African Nations Championship as well as the Moroccan local referees and line judges.
The clinic started by an English test for all the participating referees and then Hassan Ahmed started to review the new modifications of the rules specially the libero replacement, the contact with the net and the new official match protocol that will be applied during the competition.
“I’m happy to see this big number of referee attendance in the clinic ahead of an important competition like this,” Said the CAVB Referee Commission president Hassan Ahmed after the first session of the clinic. “Actually this competition will help also to add more international referees from those participating Candidate international who will officiate in this competition. We had a double fold increase in the number of international referees in the continent during the last two years and this reflects the big work done by the CAVB technical and development department, but we need now to improve the quality of refereeing process.” He added.
