Elwani and Gumel honoring the Algerian women team

Cairo, Egypt, September 16, 2011- The African volleyball Confederation "CAVB" honored the gold medalists at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique with the special trophies after their ground breaking victories in the historic games just ended early this week. Cameroon won the men's gold medal after an exciting five setter encounter against Algeria in the final, while the Algerian won overcame their final against Cameroon in the women final.
The CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani accompanied by CAVB Vice President and treasurer Habu Gumel gave the trophy of Cameroon men team to the President of Cameroon Olympic Committee and CAA President "African athletic Confederation" Hamad Kalkaba Malboum in presence of CAF "African Football Confederation" President Issa Hayatou who expressed his happiness with Cameroon achievement in volleyball which is added to the big achievements of football for the West African country.
On the other hand Elwani honored the Algerian women team with the special trophy in presence of the Algerian Volleyball Federation Vice President Moustafa Baba Ameur.
"The two African teams deserve this honor after their brave performance at the successful All Africa Games," said CAVB President. "It was an honor to the African volleyball to see both teams struggling match by match till they clinched the gold medal after two thrilling finals that gave the games a new taste of success. In my opinion Mozambique hosted the most successful games in terms of the volleyball championship after the strong competition between the best teams in the continent." He added.
