Bujumbura, Burundi, March 1, 2013 – A VCP Beach Volleyball course was carried out in Burundi from February 18 to 22, under the leadership of instructor Christian Didembourg of Belgium in conjunction with the Burundi Volleyball Federation.
The 29 participants – who included physical education students, referees and coaches – were first given theoretical instruction on the rules of play and other technical aspects of the game. The course then moved onto the beach, where participants were shown how to prepare a beach volleyball court and given instruction on playing techniques and refereeing fundamentals.
Following the success of the course, Mr Didembourg encouraged the federation to begin organising competitions to continue the development of the sport in the country.
The VCP beach volleyball course has laid the foundation for stronger volleyball development in Burundi
