Nairobi, Kenya, February 3, 2013- Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National Executive Committee held their first meeting for season 2013 at Nyayo National Stadium on February 2, 2-13 to plan for activities coming ahead.
Among other important decisions taken during the meeting, is that Kenya applies to host CAVB Women’s African Nations Championship scheduled for August-September, 2013.
KVF also requested from the African Volleyball Confederation "CAVB" one more additional slot in 2013 CAVB African Clubs Championships for each gender. Kenya’s official representatives are Prisons and Pipeline for women and Prisons and General Service Unit for men. Kenya Commercial Bank women and Ulinzi men who finished third overall in the 2012 National league are likely to get the slots if CAVB gives Kenya chance to enter three teams each in the continental shows. Libya hosts men while women travel to Madagascar on April 1-12, 2013.
Kenya will send teams to invitational beach volleyball tournaments slatted for Burundi on February 23-24 2013. Forming men’s team are Patrick Owino (F Rangers/Sila Makiso (Ulinzi) and Benard Musumba (GSU)/Nicholas Lagat (Rangers). Women’s pairs are Edna Rotich (Ulinzi)/Eunice Maiyo (KCB) and Naomi Too (N Water)/Agripina Kundu (Pipeline). The players were selected in basis of having been tested before in the beach sport.
The center African country will also participate in Continental Beach Cup Junior Championships to be held in Rwanda on February 16-17, 2013. Malava and Kwanthanze High would provide teams.
