2010 Women’s African Clubs Champions Championship
8-18 May 2010 - Mauritius
Kenya Prisons represents Africa in the FIVB Club World Championship
Vacoas, Mauritius, May 17, 2010 – The podium of the 2010 Women’s African Club cham, pionship have become all Kenyan when three Kenyan teams were ranked in the tiop three positions of the competition. Kenya Prisons wrestled it out against rivals of Kenya Pipeline after a four set game 3-1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-10, 25-21) in the final match held here at Panditahadeo Hall in Mauritius on Sunday. The winners will represent the continent at the FIVB Club World Championship due to be held in Doha, Qatar December 14- 21, 2010.
The record holders Kenya Pipeline had a dream start after winning the initial set 25-23. But Prisons came down from this deficit to stun their opponents in three straight set. Prisons players were far too efficient in attack and service to be caught by their opponents during the three last sets. David Lung’aho won the 2nd and 3rd sets comfortably (25-14 and 25-10). Pipeline tried their best in the 4th set but could not manage to challenge their far too powerful opponents.
Another Kenyan side, Kenya Commercial Bank, trounced Bafia Evolution of Cameroon to win the bronze medal 3-1 (25-21, 25-27, 25-18, 25-17).
