Maun, Botswana, November 28, 2012- Botswana Volleyball Federation in conjunction with Botswana Primary School Sport Association will be hosting the annual Mini Volleyball Festival on Wednesday and Thursday November, 28 - 29, 2012 in Maun.
The tournament will be played by children under the age of 14. This part of the Botswana Volleyball Federation long term athlete development program aimed at introducing volleyball at grassroots.
For this year over 800 children and 265 officials from 100 primary schools countrywide will take part in the festival. This is the largest festival of them all since it since its inception seven years ago. The festival forms part of the monitoring and evaluation tools of BVF in ensuring that proper skills are taught to the young athletes. The festivals also aims at assisting in the selection of talents and increased mass participation in volleyball. During the festival the scouts will select athletes for 2013 under 13 national team as well as athletes that would be selected to Centers of Sports Excellence.
The 2012 Festival is sponsored by LTS Enterprises to the tune of P35,000.00 worth t shirts and other merchandise for all participants and powered by Botswana National Sports Council and Botswana Primary School Sports Association.
