Cairo, Egypt, April 27, 2011 – Al Ahly of Egypt heads pool A when the drawing of lots for the 2011 Men’s World Championship was held at the host venue Al Ahly Club in Cairo Egypt on Wednesday in presence of the CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani and the Local Organizing Committee President Eng. Hesham Said with 16 participating teams.
The sixteen teams will fight for Club World Championship berth in the competition that is going to start on Thursday till the 7th of May.
The 16 teams were divided into 4 preliminary pool during the technical meeting. Pool A constitutes also Redskins (Lesotho), Al Nahda (Sudan) and National University of Rwanda. Pool B includes Prsisons (Kenya), Daim Hamad (Sudan), Port de Douala (Cameroon) and Inter Club (Congo Brazzaville).
In Pool C Al Saggana (Sudan), Rukinzo (Burundi), Setif (Algeria) and El Guish of Egypt will compete while pool D shows GSU (Kenya), Sunshins Boys (Nigeria) FAP (Cameroon) and Blida (Algeria).
The prestigious competition acts as a qualifier for the 2011 FIVB Men’s African Club Championship to be held in Qatar.
