Nairobi, Kenya, October 21, 2012- Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National league play-offs are scheduled for November 16-18 at Nyayo National Stadium as declared by the Federation on Sunday.
Participating teams in Men's championship are: Defending champions General Service Unit, last year’s runners-up Kenya Prisons who represented Africa in the 2012 Club World Championship in Daha lat week, Ulinzi and Forest Rangers.
Women’s category features champions Kenya Pipeline, last year’s runners-up Kenya Prisons, Kenya Commercial Bank and Nairobi Water.
National secretary Evans Wasike said: “We changed the time from initial dates of November 5 to give teams more time to prepare.”
“We’ve tentatively settled on Nyayo National Stadium as play-offs venue because Moi International Sports Center will not be available during the duration of our event,” he explained.
KVF National Executive meeting on October 20, 2012 also announced that all 11 teams that participated in men’s division one will be retained and four promoted from division two to form 15-team league next season.
Promoted teams are: Kenya Airways, Kenya Meat Commission, Co-Operative Bank and Eldoret Stima.
Status quo remains in women’s league that is featuring eight teams.
