Cairo, Egypt, August 28, 2012- FIVB President apologizes in a special statement, while he is visiting the African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” Headquarters in Cairo, for the refusal of Visa Entry to Canada for three African teams participating at the Beach Volleyball Swatch Junior World Championship in Canada set to be held August 29 to September 2.
“FIVB apologize to the African National Federations who will not make their travel to Canada and their players because this incident is out of hands of the World Volleyball governing body due to the narrow time ahead of the competition,” Said Mr. Wei.
“According to the IOC and ACNO any political intervention in the sport is not helpful to the Olympic movement and the sports including volleyball and beach volleyball. Thus FIVB will take the necessary measures towards this occasion in order not to be repeated in future.”
“In London the athletes from all over the world came to compete for the peak event which was the Olympic Games and now we want to do the same all over the world,” He added.
FIVB President congratulated Burundi Volleyball Federation, one of the federations that will not make their tour to Canada for the great work done to develop beach volleyball throughout the country till the junior team won the continental title which was the first gold medal in the history of the country in all the sports.
