Lome, Togo, June 30, 2012- African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” organized a workshop for the players participating in the 2012 CAVB Junior Beach Volleyball Cup held at Lome, Togo on Saturday.
The aim of that workshop was to increase the information of those future stars and allow them to know more about their favourite sport specially the rules and regulations of the game and to be familiar with the referee decision when they proceed to the world competitions.
This was the first ever workshop for the players to be organized by the African volleyball governing body.
The workshop was conducted by the International referees Hazem El Sherbini (EGY), Hannington Nsubua (UGA) who acts as referee Delegates and Giovanni Bake (RSA).
The event started by a session about how the players behave prior, during and after the match which was important for the young players to appear at their best during the championship.
Then the instructors proceeded to discuss the proper players’ uniform and the responsibilities of the team captains during the matches.
Sherbini, Hannington and Bake discussed also with the players different types of timeouts and how can players behave in each specially the medical timeout and the referee decision if there is an injury during the matches. They also figured out the sequence of events during the pre and post match protocols.
The players had a lot of input in the discussions about the criteria of setting the ball overhand with fingers as it was the most crucial point of cases.
The international referees showed by powerpoint presentation the cases of ball mark protocol and delaying of the game as well as cases of Joust and block.
Finally the young players have special session to put their questions about all the technical and official matters on table which was replied thoroughly by the instructors.
