Gambia, June 1, 2012- Jeshwang Men's volleyball team added another trophy to their cabinet for the second time in the 2011-2012 Gambia Volleyball Association season. They won 3-1 over the Gambia Armed Forces in the knockout final last weekend to add to their previous crown in 2005.
The young talented Jeshwang team made their intension known earlier in the match after winning the first set by 25-21 and they created fewer errors compared to GAF.
Despite putting that respectable performance in the first set, they could not however stop the soldiers from wining the second, in which they lost by 25-22.
Jeshwang then made a remarkable comeback in the third set to win by 25-21 and 25-11. With their young attacker, Amadou Jarju, been the hero of the day after a magnificent performance.
GAF could not match hardworking young Jeshwang players despite their experienced and professional volleyball players. Their head coach, Saihou Omar Badjie, knows that Jeshwang deserves to win, as he told Daily News Sport after the game.
He also challenged the organizers to double up their efforts in making sure that the venue is properly maintained.
For his part, the man at the helm of Jeshwang, Paul Mendy, sent praises on his players for their superb performance and their elders back home who gave them support.
Mendy won two trophies for Jeshwang in his first season as the head coach.
In the women category of the knockout final, interior female also defeated The Gambia Armed Forces in straight sets 3-0 in Banjul in a well contested game.
