Lumley Beach, Sierra Leone, May 30, 2012- The Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) beach Youth Cup for U-19 boys and girls started on Wednesday with a lot of action in Freetown in the front view of Taia Resort at Lumley Beach.
The first match for day was in the boys category between Senegal and Niger with Niger winning both matches 22-20, 21-17.
In the other match Sierra Leone boys defeated Guinea boys 2-1. It was the Guinean that won the first set 21-13 and Sierra Leone level the score by winning second set 21-14. The third set which was best as Sierra Leone defeated their Guinean Opponent by 15-12.
In the girls’ category Sierra Leone again defeated their Guinean team by the same margin 2-1 after Sierra Leone winning the first set 21-11 and the Guinean came very strong to level the score after winning second set 23-21. Sierra Leone team won the final set 15-8.
In the other girls' match Senegal defeated Niger 2-1. Niger was the first to take the lead by winning the first set 22-20 and the Senegalese came very strong to level the score by winning 21-17.
The Senegalese continue in the winning spree by winning the final set 15-12.
The competition will continue at the same venue with Nigeria and Sierra Leone playing the first match in the girl’s category. In the boys category Sierra Leone will play against Niger in the first match.
Out of the 10 countries that were expected to participate in the competition only five countries turn up for the competition which include the host Sierra Leone, Guinea, Senegal, Niger and Nigeria.
