Gisenyu, Rwanda, May 22, 2012- Hosts Rwanda and heavy favourites Kenya put the final touches to their preparations for the CAVB Women’s Continental Cup finals due to start at Palm Beach shores in Gisenyu, Rwanda on May 24.
The two favourite teams will be among seven countries participating in the Olympic Qualifying event where the winners secure a ticket to the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Kenyan pairs of Indikla / Ndasaba and Rotich / Maiyo were the first teams to arrive to Rwanda on Monday where they started their first training session on the Centre Court on Tuesday.
“We are ready and eager to qualify to the Olympic Games through winning this final round,” Said Kenya pairing of Indikla / Ndasaba
The two experienced players were among Kenya’s indoor volleyball national team for many years before they led Kenya to another success at the continental beach volleyball arena through their participation in all sub-zonal and zonal phases of the Olympic Qualifying competition.
The Rwandan team started their final preparations among their spectators in the center Court with a big support from the crowd.
Rwanda’s pair Nzayisenga / Mutatsimpundu will be the youngest players in this competition, with Nzayisenga celebrating her 19th birthday in the next day of the final.
Kenya teams own a remarkable win- loss ratio of 17/4 and they never lost a country vs. country match since they lost against their rivals South Africa in the last round of the Zonal Phase.
