Mozambique boys and girls through to second round at Youth Olympic Games

Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 12, 2018- Mozambique girls team was the only African team to qualify to the second round of Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, while they qualified along with Ghana and Gambia to second round in the boys gender.

 

 Mozambique duo Sinaportar/Mucheza beat Norway 2-0 (21-14-21-11) in the last pool match to secure second round place after they finished third in Pool C after Norway and Peru. Other African teams Egypt, Sierra Leone, Congo RD and Rwanda were eliminated after they finished fourth in their corresponding pools.

 

 In Boys side Mozambique, Ghana and Gambia made it to the elimination stage as Mozambique boys Arsénio Guvu/ Jorge Monjane overcame Puerto Rico 2-1 (15-21, 21-19, 15-11) to finish second of Pool D.

 

 Ghana team of Carboo/Tsatsu came third of Pool G, while Gambia's Sheikh Colley/ Jahara Koita finished third of Pool C.
