Gumel accompany Elwani to plan for African youngsters

Abuja, Nigeria, September 19, 2018- CAVB Vice President, Engineer Habu Gumel and the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod both expressed delight over the progress of volleyball in Africa as they accompanied CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani to meet the Nigerian Minister of Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung during the 2018 Men's U21 African Nations Championship held in Abuja.


Gumel who is now the NOC president said; "Elwani developed a blueprint for grassroots development in volleyball and has contributed to the growth of the game in Africa,"


 for many years, Elwani was concentrating on the development of age group competitions in Africa and this year 2018 it proves success with considerable participation of teams in all categories." he added.


 Meanwhile, Nigeria VB Federation President Musa Nimrod attributed the success of the Nigerian teams in African competitions to commitments from the board members, coaches and players.


He said the cordial relationship between himself and Engineer Habu Gumel was also instrumental to the rapid growth of the game.


Responding, Nigeria’s sports minister, Barrister Solomon Dalung pledged that the Federal Government will support the Nigeria Volleyball Federation ahead of the U19 World Championship next year.


 Elwani accompanied by Gumel re-honoured the Nigerian Minister with the cup won by the Nigerian team U19 early in Algeria during All Africa Games.
