Volleyball coaching Course successfully conducted in Gambia

Banjul, Gambia, February 6, 2018- A three-day volleyball coaching refresher course for local volleyball coaches ended in Banjul on Sunday under the supervision of Gambia Volleyball Federation "GVBF". Twenty-five coaches were attracted to participate in the course operation and Mr. Mbye Deme Technical Director of FIVB development center in Dakar conducted the sessions.


This is part of the Gambia Volleyball Federation development activity to ultimately improve the volleyball experience of those who wish to conduct the game and promote it


GVBF development programme cover a wide array of initiatives – from courses to build the skills of referees and coaches locally to the support of promotional activities to raise the profile of the game while enticing young people to play volleyball.


Speaking at the closing ceremony the acting president of GVBF Bai Dodou Jallow thanked the trainers for a well-done job. He emphasized the need for commitment from the trained coaches and urged them to be united and share their experience amongst themselves.


He challenged the participants to read and do more research, noting that the rules and other technical regulations of the game are always developing. Mr. Jallow emphasized that the future of the game is in the hands of the local coaches.


The instructor Mr Deme reaffirmed his continuous support to the development of the game in Zone two and urge the Gambia Volleyball Federation to put lot more support on the coaches department and the young players


The national volleyball league season will start on February 17, 2018 with a traditional curtain raiser (Super Cup) at the independence stadium.
