Cameroon beat Kenya

14 October 2017

Yaoundé, Cameroon, October 14, 2017- Cameroon captured the trophy of the Women's African Nations Championship following their decisive victory over record holders Kenya 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 29-27) in the final of the competition at Palais des Sports Hall in Yaoundé, Cameroon on Saturday.

Cameroon was the better side throughout the match and were supported by more than 6000 thrilled spectators who were on their toes watching their team gaining the title for the first time.

This is the first ever title for Cameroon after they lost two finals before in 1999 and 2013.

Cameroon strategy depended on using their powerful attackers from the wings of the net using the unstable Kenyan defence to lead 2-0 with a great dominance.

The third set was the most exciting in the match as Cameroon saved 2 set points for Kenya to win the most interesting set in the competition 29-27.

Nana Tchoudjang led the winners scorers with 14 points, while Violet Makuto led the losers with 12 points.
