Mauritius, March 25, 2012- Mauritius started the preparations to host the finals of the Men's Beach Volleyball Continental Cup April 13 to 15 which act as a qualifier for the 2012 London Olympic Games. The competition will be held in Flic en Flac venue. The competition features 8 teams battling for the Olympic slot as the champions will guarantee a direct qualification berth to London while the second and third will have another chance of qualification through playing at the World Cup in Italy next June. The expected participating countries are Algeria, Angola, Congo Brazzaville, Egypt, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria and South Africa. Those teams qualified to this stage as they topped their corresponding pools during the zonal phase last year. Mauritius men and women teams qualified to the finals of both men and women Continental Cup finals which was reflected positively to the sport at the eastern African Island as the local authorities started to support the sport. A lot of local competitions have been held in the country specially following the victory of the women team at the All Africa Games in Mozambique when the women team earned the gold medal of the first ever beach volleyball tournament to be held in the prestigious continental multi sport event. The competition finals will be held in a single elimination format with consolation. Each of the participants will be represented by two teams.
