Ahly, Swehly and FAP confirmed quarterfinal tickets

2017 Men's African Club Championship- Day 4

 


 Tunis, Tunisia, March 20, 2017- Five teams booked their tickets to the quarterfinal of the 2017 Men's African Club championship after the end of Day 4 of the preliminary round leaving only 3 slots to the final day to be held at Taraji Hall in Tunis, Tunisia on Monday.

 

 Teams confirmed their way to the second round are Ahly (Egypt) from Pool A, Swehly (Libya), FAP (Cameroon) from Pool B, Borj Bouaririj (Algeria) from Pool C and Etoile du Sahel from Pool D.

 

 In what is described as early final Ahly of Egypt claimed a very psychologic victory after they beat orgainzers Esperance of Tunisia in from of full house.  The victory bring the qualification ticket to Ahly, while esperance have to wait for the final day match against Bafia of Cameroon to confriom the second ticket.

 

Swehly (Libya) clinched the second win against Alnahda of Sudan 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-15) to improve their record to 2-0 equal to FAP of Cameroon who were in rest day. Both team booked their tickets but their face to face match on Tuesday will determine the head of the pool and the second placed.

 

 In Pool C University of Kibungo (Rwanda) overcame Douanes (Burkina Faso) in epic five setter 3-2 (15-25, 25-21, 27-29, 25-16, 15-8), while Assarya (Libya) flew past Police VI (Botswana) 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-16) as both winners search a second qualification ticket from the pool to the quarters after the leader Bourj Bouaririj of Algeria. 

 

 Prisons (Kenya) set another decisive in Pool D as they hammered Police (Benin) 3-0 25-13, 25-9, 25-23) as they will compete with Espoir of Congo for the second ticket after Tunisia;s Etoile du Sahel confirmed the first ticket early on Sunday.
