Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, February 16, 2012- Tanzania Volleyball Association “TAVA” organized a one day volleyball bonanza in Morogoro 190 km from the capital Dar es Salaam. The event was very colorful and first of its kind in Morogoro
TAVA has called other regions emulate this and hold such events in the promotion of volleyball which is gradually attracting more fans in most of the cities.
The presence of a high government official for the whole day has not only impressed TAVA but also given us more challenge with good government promises.
The Bonanza was officially inaugurated by the former Deputy Minister for Information Culture and Sports Joel Bendera who is the current Morogoro Regional Commissioner.
Teams which participated in the colourful event were Tanzania Prisons men and women who are Mainland volleyball champions, Moro Stars Moro Youth Twalipo Warriors from JWTZ Dar es salaam SUA University and Future Volleyball Club from Dar es Salaam
The event attracted a good number of Morogoro residents who were well entertained with sharp and accurate spikes by the Tanzania Prisons and Moro Stars.
The Regional Commissioner Ndugu Joel Bendera asked the chairman for Morogoro Volleyball Association to organize such events on a monthly basis to tap up new talents in this second famous sport in the world next to football.
The event was also attended by the Vice Chairman of Tanzania Volleyball Association TAVA Muharam Mchume.
