Khartoum, Sudan, December 9, 2011- The presentations of the different activities for the African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” continued during the second session of the 2011 Congress attended by a record of 48 National Federations at the Corinthia Hotel in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum.
Camilo Antao presented the Sports Organizing Commission and showed the great improvement in the number of participating teams. He pointed out the key factors of success for the CAVB competitions which are the proper organization, the big attendance of spectators and the media coverage including TV and newspapers.
FIVB Referee Commission Secretary Hassan Ahmed presented the referee commission report and showed the great improvement in the number of the international referees. He showed that the number of the international referees increased from 69 in 2002 to 181 in 2011. He recommended to take care of the countries that don’t have any international referees.
Dr Hossam Bahgat appreciated the appointment of medical delegates in the African competition in the African competitions for the first time during 2011. He stated that the anti doping test for the players as well as the alcohol test for the referees was done in most of the big competition this year.
Then the presidents of the seven African zones presented their reports. Zone I president Okba Gougam, Zone II Mory Kieta, Zone III Issiaka Sawadogo, zone IV Lucbeau Kalala, zone V Nasiwu Sakik who replaced the president Emad Othman, zone VI Camilo Antao and zone VII Kayseeven Teeroovegadum showed their activity in the last two years and the problem they faced to increase their activity.
