Khartoum, Sudan, December 8, 2011- A ground breaking record of 47 National Federations started the 2011 CAVB Congress agenda on Thursday at the Corinthia Hotel in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum in presence of the FIVB President Jizhong Wei.
The attendance started the meeting by approval of the 2009 CAVB Congress minutes and then Dr Elwani started presenting the CAVB Activity report since the 2009 Congress in Algeria till the December 2011 and showed the great advance in all the parameters specially after implementation of the CAVB Development early in 2010.
CAVB Vice President and Treasurer Habu Gumel started to present the financial report along with the CAVB Finance Director Ahmed El Sherif which was approved. Gumel presented also the proposed budget for the next year which was approved by the majority of the attendance.
CAVB Technical Director Howyda Mondy showed in her presentation the increased number of competitions organized in the last two years and specifically after the start of the Beach Volleyball Continental Cup in 2010. She showed the courses organized by CAVB in coaching, refereeing and management beside the ordinary VCP courses organized by the FIVB on Africa.
FIVB President Jizhong Wei replied the requests of many National federations to increase the budget for Africa specially category I and II NFs and showed the strategy of the FIVB towards conducting the money coming from the sport to the sport.
CAVB Beach Director presented the great job done all over the continent to establish the pillars of the sport specially during the sub zonal and zonal phases of the CAVB Continental Cup which is a qualifier to the 2012 London Olympic Games. She also pointed out the importance to organize 5 beach clinics in the different continental regions to teach the NFs how to organize the Beach volleyball tours.
The first session of the congress was attended by the FIVB President Jizhong Wei, FIVB 1st executive vice-president and NORCECA president Cristóbal Marte, FIVB executive vice-president and CEV president André Meyer and FIVB executive vice-president and CSV president Dr Ary Graca.
