Windhoek, Namibia, December 1, 2011- a lot of thrills emerged as the Zone VI Volleyball Club Championships got underway at the DTS Sports Club and the Police Training Centre.in Windhoek, Namibia.
The elite of all Southern African volleyball clubs is playing for the title since Saturday, the 26th November. Participating teams come from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia.
Botswana proved to be a strong contestant in this tournament with four teams that are entering the semifinals and one more team that could still qualify in the group phrase. Namibia also impressed with competent performances, however only the ladies of the Khomas Nampol Volleyball Club (KNVC) managed to reach the second rank in their group to continue to the semifinals.
Thus we will see two clubs from Botswana (Kutlwano and Diphatsa)facing each other in the semifinals in the men’s category, as well as the University of the Western Cape (UWC) versus D’Agosto from Angola.
Two more group games have to be played in the ladies category until the list of the women semifinalists will be complete. So far, Kalawango and Kutlwano from Botswana and the only Namibian team, KNVC, qualified. The follow-ups in question are Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) from South Africa and Mafolofoland from Botswana.
