Elwani awarded by the President Mubarak as volleyball was chosen the best sport in Egypt

The Egyptian President of the republic Hosni Mubarak awarding Dr. Amr Elwani Cairo, Egypt, March 7, 2008- The Egyptian President of the Republic Mr. Hosni Mubarak has awarded the African Volleyball Confederation CAVB and Egyptian volleyball Federation President Dr. Amr Elwani by the first degree Order of the country after volleyball was chosen as the best sport in the country for the second year in a raw.

President Mubarak remitted the Order to Elwani after the great achievements done by the Men’s National team ended by the historic qualification to the 2008 Beijing Olympic and congratulated him for his great work to upgrade the sport all over the country and to increase volleyball popularity. He asked him to continue his hard work at both local and international levels as great symbol of sport in Egypt and at the international level as a president of CAVB and vice president of FIVB. He asked the players to be good representatives for their countries at the most important sports event on the earth, the Olympic Games.

Mubarak remitted the order also to the Men’s Volleyball players who represented the country in the international competitions in 2007/2008 season.

2008 CAVB Commission meeting
Amendments in the competition regulations and establishing zonal qualifications for all CAVB competitions
Cairo, Egypt, - The CAVB sports Organization Committee (SOC) put the new CAVB competition regulations that will help to improve the African Championships according to the approval of the 2007 CAVB Congress. The meeting held at CAVB headquarters in Cairo, Egypt was attended by the major CAVB Board and commission members led by CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani and CAVB vice president Tubby Reddy.
The commission discussed the reports of all the Control Committee presidents of the African competitions in the last few years to find out all the drawbacks of the organizations to put the solutions before the 2008 competitions with production of CAVB operations manual for all African competitions. They made all the amendments required for progress in the competition regulations. The commission put also the new beach volleyball competition regulations and also system of ranking.
2007 All Arab Games, Cairo- Egypt: Drawing of Lots:
The big forces Egypt and Tunisia in the same pool
Cairo, Egypt, August 10, 2007-: The drawing of lots of the eleventh All Arab Games to be held in Cairo, Egypt 11- 23 November 2007 put the big two Arc Rivals Egypt and Tunisia in the same pool in the finals of the volleyball competition.

The host team Egypt chose to be drawn in Pool B according to Arab competition regulations with their compatriots Tunisia as well as Morocco, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq.

Pool A will comprise the last competition silver medalists Algeria as well as Sudan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Libya.

Each Pool will play in a round robin format where the first and second team will qualify to the semifinal.

It is well known that Egypt won the last competition Gold medal in Alger, Algeria 2005 defeating the host team at that time 3-1 in the final.

CAVB President Elwani visits Kenyan All Africa Games teams in Camp
Nairobi, Kenya, Thursday July 6-: Kenyan national women and men volleyball teams preparing for All Africa Games received a major boost when CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani visited them at their training camp at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani today.
Dr Elwani who was in Kenya for a two days official visit was accompanied by CAVB Technical Director Howyda Mondy and his host Waithaka Kioni who is the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) President.
Addressing the excited women and men national teams’ members separately, Dr Elwani wished them all the best of luck during the All Africa Games which gets underway in Algiers, Algeria next week.
“I am so delighted to be in Nairobi and to have time to visit you in camp. You must remain focused and aim for better results when you go to Algeria,” said Dr Elwani who is also FIVB Executive Vice President and Egyptian Volleyball Federation President.

Elwani supports Sudan Volleyball Development programme
Khartoum, Sudan, April 8, 2007-: In the framework of Sudan Volleyball Federation Development Programme under supervision of the president of the federation Kamal Khir Allah, CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani had a fruitful meeting with the big sports authority in Sudan led by the Federal sports youth and Cultural Minster Mohamed Youssef Abdallah during zone 5 qualifications to All Africa Games in Khartoum, Sudan. Dr. Ewani expressed his happiness to the minister for what he saw in Sudan in terms of volleyball development in the local competitions and in the FIVB Development centre which could put Sudan in good position in the continental volleyball competitions.
The minister showed CAVB president the efforts they did to establish a new indoor hall to be ready to host the big continental competitions as will as increasing the technical and financial support to the Sudanese teams to allow the regular participation in all volleyball championships wither at the club or national team levels.
Elwani promised the minister to give Sudan the honor of hosting a big CAVB volleyball event in 2008 event to be held in the newly established hall in Khartoum most probably the Men's Under 21 African Nations Championship which qualifies to the FIVB World Championship of this age category.
Experienced Instructors for the first CAVB Beach Volleyball Clinic
The Confederation of African Volleyball CAVB contacted both the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the European confederation (CEV) to bring a big experienced instructors to conduct the first CAVB Beach Volleyball clinic to be held at CAVB headquarters in Cairo, Egypt form 10 to 15 April before the implementation of the first beach volleyball competition at the club level this year.
CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani contacted both FIVB Beach Volleyball coordinator Mr. Angelo Squeo and CEV President Mr. Andre Meyer to get their support to bring this clinic to complete success because it will be considered as a big occasion to start the continental Beach volleyball programme in a proper way.
"We hope to use this clinic to start our continental beach volleyball programme in the correct style to reach the World level and start the proper participation in the biggest FIVB events like the World Tours and the World Championships," Said CAVB President Elwani. "We want also to use the experience of CAVB Beach Volleyball Commission President Dr. Abdelrazak Allam who had very successful competitions in Morocco and also a big Satellite competition and to copy this success all over the contient zones,"
KENYA THANKS FIVB FOR SUPPORTING THE COUNTRY AND AFRICAN CONTINENT
World volleyball governing body FIVB has pledged its continued support to Kenya and African continent as a whole.
Addressing the biggest sports press conference ever seen in Kenya at a Nairobi hotel on Monday, CAVB President Dr Amri Elwani said FIVB under the wise leadership of DrRubenAcosta has given great support to Kenya and the African continent and it would continue to do so.
"Kenya as a country has benefited greatly from support from the FIVB and I wish to state here that Dr Acosta will continue ensuring that our continent get support from FIVB so as to raise the standards of the game on the continent," said Dr Elwani who was accompanied to Nairobi by the CAVB Press Officer, Dr. Tarek Al-Adwar.While congratulating Kenya women national volleyball team for qualifying to represent Africa at next year's World Championships in Japan and their recent victory in the African Cup of Nations which will see the team participate in 2007 World Cup in Italy, Dr Elwani called on the team to work hard.

A Major Press Conference for CAVB President in Kenya
FIVB support to Africa and Congratulation to Kenya the Main Titles

Nairobi, Kenya, September 25-: CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani will hold a major press conference on Monday September 26 at the Stanley Hotel from 11.00 am in the Kenyan Capital of Nairobi in his African tour before the CAVB Congress to be held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt 1-2 October 2005.
Dr. Elwani's visit to Kenya will among other things to congratulate Kenya for winning two big continental competitions in women category; 2006 African World Championship qualification in Nairobi in July 2005 and the 15th African Nations Championship in Abuja, Nigeria early this month. He will also declare in his speech the great FIVB support to Africa generally and Kenya specifically in the last few years so as to allow the volleyball in the continent to jump towards the World level.

Cairo, Egypt December 30-: CAVB President, Dr. Amr Elwani was re-elected Thursday as Egyptian volleyball Federation President for the third period till 2008. The Board of administration included also Hasan Ahmed, the CAVB Referee commission president and FIVB Referee commission secretary in the position of Vice-president, Dr. Hosam Bahgat, CAVB Medical Commission President as a treasurer and Khalid Nasif, Sameh Hamdy, Mohamed Abou Elfotoh and Amr Makhlouf as members.
Under the presidency of Dr. Elwani, Egyptian continued its predominance in the African level in 2004 specially after defeating the two big forces Tunisia, the last African Nations’ Champions and Algeria the African Nations Bronze Medalist in the Volleyball Competition of All Arab Games in Algeria October 2004. this was the only confrontation between the greatest three countries in the continent in 2004 as Egypt passes the two teams to get the gold medal of Men’s competition.
AFTER GREAT EFFORTS OF FIVB AND CAVB:
AFRICAN GALA CHAMPIONSHIP IN ACTION

After many years of trials to establish an Afro-European competition, the first ever African Gala Championship will start today 18th July in Abuja-Nigeria in presence of two African teams, Egypt and the hosts Nigeria and two European teams, Russia and Portugal. The first Nigerian Lady, Chief Mrs. Stella Dbasanjo, the wife of Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will attend the opening ceremony as an Honour presedent of the competition.
Portugal will face Nigeria after the opening ceremony and then Egypt will play against Russia. In the second day 19th July Egypt will play against Nigeria and then Russia will face Portugal. In the third and final day 20th July Russia will face Nigeria then the final match between Egypt and Portugal.
Dr. Amr Elwani, the CAVB President said in the technical meeting the Africa owe to Dr. Acosta, the FIVB President who was the main reason to insist to establish this competition as a push for Africa Volleyball to reach the world level. He also thanked Mr. Gomel the Nigerian volleyball Federation president and also the Supreme Committee President for his efforts to host the championship.
